Amidst the extremely complicated global development of COVID-19, more new cases of COVID-19 have appeared in Vietnam. On March 9, 2020, the VAST Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention and control held a meeting to deploy epidemic prevention and control. Based on the conclusions at the meeting, VAST recommends that its affiliated units continue to implement the following contents:
At present, the respiratory infection caused by the new strain of Coronavirus (COVID-19) is spreading aggressively. In this situation, on March 2nd, 2020, VAST Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control held a meeting to deploy epidemic prevention and control at the academy. Immediately after its outbreak in Vietnam, Hanoi saw new cases of COVID-19, and VAST Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control requested immediate disinfectant spraying of the Central Building, A1 building and the Institute of Information Technology, on the night of March 8th, 2020.
Implementing Express Document 05/ CT-TTg dated Jan. 28, 2020 of the Prime Minister on the prevention and control of acute respiratory infections caused by new strains of Corona virus, Directive 06/ CT -TTg dated Jan. 31, 2020, on strengthening measures to prevent and combat the new complicated developments of acute respiratory infections caused by new strains of Corona virus, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) has promptly carried out activities to prevent the penetration and spread of epidemics, and to actively prevent the epidemic.

In October, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and the Vietnam National Space Center (VNSC) welcomed the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) to Hanoi for the annual CEOS Plenary meeting, where leaders from the world’s major space agencies decide upon the direction of collaborative efforts in the Earth observation domain. Numerous priorities were discussed, including the 2019 CEOS Chair Initiative, CEOS climate activities, CEOS Analysis Ready Data, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), among many others.
