On December 19th, 2017, the Centre for Research and Technology Transfer (CRETECH) and (International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) organized a ceremony to launch the project "Application of GAINS model in air environment management in Vietnam".
From 26th February to 3 March 2018, the Institute of Natural Products Chemistry - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (INPC-VAST) in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam and Asia – Pacific Netwok for Global Change Research (APN) holds the International Workshop on Technological Needs Assessment (TNA) on Climate change Mitigation and Adaptation in Southeast Asia: Experience Sharing and Technology Transfer.
From December 4-8, 2017, a delegation from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) led by Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee and VAST President, had a working session to hand over the laboratory of the project on strengthening capacity of scientific research and technological development to the Lao National Institute for Sciences, which was built using official development assistance (ODA) funding from the Vietnamese Government to the Lao Government in the 2016-2018 period.
On December 26, 2017, the Party Committee of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technology (VAST) held the 11th open meeting of the Party Executive Board to review the work of the Party in 2017 and the directions, tasks and solutions in 2018. Chau Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the VAST Party Committee and VAST President, chaired the meeting, with the participation of members of the VAST Party Committee Executive Board and secretaries of VAST Party organizations.
On August 7th and 8th, 2017, in Ly Son Island district, the central province of Quang Nam, the Management Board of the project on “building Vietnam national nature specimen collections” held a seminar to review the mid-term implementation of project components.
From November 21-26, the Institute of Geography, in collaboration with China Taiwan's Group on Earth Observations (TGEO) and the Vietnamese Experts Association in Taiwan (VNEAT), organized the International Conference on Earth Observations and Natural Hazards 2017 (ICEO-NH), Participants in the conference included Prof. Ming An Lee, President of the Taiwan Group on Earth Observations; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ninh Khac Ban, Head of International Cooperation Department under the Academy of Science and Technology; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Vinh Cam, former acting President of the Institute of Geography; Prof. Yuei-An Liou, former President of the Taiwan Group on Earth Observations (co-chairman of the conference) and Dr. Dao Dinh Cham, President of the Institute of Geography (co-chairman of the conference); and a large number of domestic and foreign scientists.
