On the morning of March 16, 2019, at Ngoc Son Temple (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi City), the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology organized a ceremony to hand over the specimen of Ho Guom (Sword Lake) Turtle, together with preservation and display cabinets to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and Hoan Kiem District People's Committee.

Scientists from Australia, the US and Vietnam have described four new cicadas belonging to the Semia genus, the Cicadidae family, the Auchenorrhyncha sub-family, the Hemiptera set (Semia genus has 13 species, including 6 species reported only in Vietnam), named as follows: Semia magna Emery, Lee & Pham, 2017; Emery Semia spiritus, Lee & Pham, 2017; Semia pallida Emery, Lee & Pham, 2017; and Semia albusequi Emery, Lee & Pham, 2017.
On January 21, 2019, at the Office of the Government, the Standing Board of the Government, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, met with and praised young engineers from the Vietnam Space Center who developed the MicroDragon Satellite.
On January 24, 2019, at the Ha Giang provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Ha Giang Provincial People's Committee organized a meeting for the acceptance of the provincial project “Research and construction of the Dong Van Stone Plateau Global Geopark Museum of Nature, Ha Giang”, Code: DTKH.HG-04/16, from 2016 - 2018. Attending the meeting were representatives from the project implementation agency, the Vietnam Museum of Nature, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Minh, General Director; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Lien, the head of the project; and the project members. The project was assessed excellent by the council for acceptance and evaluation of project.
Curcuma (L.) is one of the genus providing many species used to make medicines. As of 2011, 11 of 19 species of curcuma have had their bodies and roots used for making medicines for different gastrointestinal diseases such as abdominal pain, flatulence, stomach pain, and stomach inflammation and ulcerative. In particular, some species can inhibit cancer cells, such as Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb, C. angustifolia Roxb, C. aromatica Salisb, C. cochinchinensis Gagnep, C. harmandii Gangep, C. kwangsiensis S.G. Lee & C.F. Liang, C. longa L, C. pierreana Gagnep, C. trichosantha Gagnep, C. zanthorrhiza Roxb, C. zedoaria (Berg.) Rosc. Additionally, some curcuma species is also used to treat liver related diseases such as jaundice, liver dysfunction and liver congestion, chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, enlarged liver and spleen.
A species of plant, Moc huong Nui Chua (Aristolochia nuichuaensis), a new species for science has just been discovered and described from Nui Chua National Park, Ninh Thuan Province, Vietnam.
