Variant of some genes related to gout in Vietnamese

Gout is a common arthritis disease in Vietnam and around the world, caused by an increase in blood uric acid, leading to the formation of urate crystals in joints and some other tissues. The incidence of gout in countries around the world ranges from 0.1-10%. In Vietnam, according to the statistics of the Community Orientated Program for the Control of Rheumatic Diseases (COPCORD), the incidence of gout is about 0.14%. The disease is concentrated in middle-aged men, especially those who eat a lot of protein and often drink alcohol. In addition, genetic factors have been identified as being associated with the risk of gout.

New species of plant belonging to Taccaceae discovered in Hon Ba, Khanh Hoa

Scientists at the Institute of Tropical Biology under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) have described and announced a new species of plant belonging to the Taccaceae family from Hon Ba Nature Reserve, Khanh Hoa province. The new species was named Tacca khanhhoaensis V.S. Dang & Vuong, the name of the species was named after Khanh Hoa province where the sample of the plant had been collected. This result is partly funded by the Component Project Code BSTMV.20 / 16-21 under the project on building a national specimen collection of nature of Vietnam.

Two new plant species discovered from Bidoup - Nui Ba and Hon Ba

In the framework of the research cooperation program between the Institute of Tropical Biology of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and the Center for Tropical Biosphere Research of the University of Ryukyus, Japan, scientists have discovered and announced two new plant species belonging to the Rubiaceae family and the Clusiaceae family in Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park of Lam Dong province and Hon Ba Nature Reserve of Khanh Hoa province. The 2 new species include Lasianthus bidoupensis VSDang & Naiki and Calophyllum honbaense VS Dang, H. Toyama & Tagane.
